After the success of the double A sided single “EFFY / (WE ARE) THE UNDERDOGS” back in November 2013, the variable workhorse, Robin Romei, returns with another exciting single, “VAPOURS“. Robin’s infectious take on old school, cult sounds has already seen him tour Europe and the U.S including Hollywood’s sought after Whiskey a Go Go and Tramlines Festival. Beyond this he has received national radio play, most notably for his earlier efforts on BBC Radio 6 and Frank Skinner’s Morning Show on Absolute Radio. Working closely with Sony EMI and Universal’s Adrian Hall, one of the world’s most prominent engineers and producers, Romei’s newest project is the most remarkable to date.

The born and bred Londoner brings forward an intriguing blend of classic rock, punk and pop in this recent effort, and you can’t help but notice parallels with classic cult bands like The Clash and The Smiths.  Besides Romei’s ability to write faultlessly crafted pop songs it is his lyrical content which has got to be one of his best assets. Romei’s content is both thought-provoking, wholesome and introverted, which is often brilliantly contrasted by his astonishing guitar riffs, anthemic choruses and hearty voice which sits somewhere between Robert Smith and Morrisey.

In a time where commercialism has often shrouded the industry with tacky undertones, Robin Romei will stand out with an undeniably reverberating presence, managing to capture some of the more vintage styles of the early punk and rock eras whilst maintaining a catchy pop formula. The Underdog is set to take his full band around the South Coast and London in June 2014. Already receiving heavy pre-release support, with nationwide publications and radio support please stay tuned for imminent updates.
