Indie duo Firewoodisland release inspiring song, ‘Hollow Coves’

Indie duo Firewoodisland have just released their latest single, ‘Hollow Coves’ via their own label. The track was premiered through Popmatters who described it as, “saturated by everything that typically makes their work so significant. It easily ranks among the best pieces they’ve ever released”. You can read the full premiere here.

Firewoodisland is comprised of Stian Vedøy and Abi Eleri who hail from Norway and Cardiff respectively. The duo’s alias comes from a direct translation of Stian’s surname, reminiscent of the days when it was a solo project for him. This changed when Stian met Abi.

The two tell us a little more about the track, “Hollow Coves is about reaching the point of having nothing left to give and meeting someone with a fresh perspective who breathes new life into those empty places. It acts as a reminder that we’re not made to do life by ourselves.”

The concept is one that many people in this current day should be able to relate to. Vedøy puts it into the best terms with his lyrics as he says, ‘Leave no stone unturned, a feeble light discerned’. The song stands to encourage self reflection, a concept many modern artists appear to be embracing.
