Straight out of New York, Me Not You is Eric Zeiler and Nikki Taylor. The duo have created an ethereal garage-pop sound. Following the success of their two previous EP’s Reckoning and Reckoning 2, they are ready to release a full-length debut album to the world Already Gone. The LP was composed and written entirely by the pair themselves, and if previous releases are anything to go by ‘America’ is expected to slay.
Me Not You’s sound has been compared to numerous styles including that of Sisters of Mercy’s deep gothic bass to Siouxsie Sioux’s and Blonde Redhead’s vocals. Their sound evidently borrows stylings from many genres creating something totally idiosyncratic, almost transcendent.
Speaking of ‘America’, Nikki explains: “America is a look at the soul of my country. It’s a song about the disconnect between what I thought it was, and what I fear it might be. Especially in the wake of the crisis of mass detentions and the separation of families at our border, I think it’s time we took a long look in the mirror and ask who we are, what we really stand for, and where we go from here.” We will be sure to share our opinions on the track with you. If it’s like anything they have released before we will surely find it to be yet another gem.
