Dave Curl unleashes an atypical anthology in his new LP, ‘Lockdown – Seven Nations’

Dave Curl released his second album, Lockdown – Seven Nations, on February 23, 2024, following the impactful single ‘Lockdown’ on January 19, 2024. The Australian-Swiss singer-songwriter and producer boasts over 1.5 million Spotify streams, airplay on various indie radio stations globally, and performances at venues like Kulturkoller Club. Influenced by 80s and 90s icons like Sting and AC/DC, as well as contemporary songwriters like Ed Sheeran and John Mayer, Curl’s music blends folk, pop, and rock, appealing to fans of anti-establishment sounds reminiscent of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Lou Reed.

‘Lockdown’ is a potent rock track exploring a chaotic world, contrasting the singer in serene settings with global suffering in its music video. Lockdown – Seven Nations presents eight different versions of the song by artists from seven countries, transcending language barriers through a shared musical language, resulting in a unique global anthology of profound insights.

Dave Curl shared: “During the Covid-19 time I had all these emotions that just needed to be expressed in a creative way. At the time I was just overwhelmed about all the “shitshows” going on, but with some distance and time I found the hook (chorus) for the song and could finally use all those pages I had filled with words of anger, fear, hope and disbelief.”
