Belgrade-based producer, singer-songwriter and composer Neacal shared his second single ‘Out of Control’ on August 16th, 2024 via Neacal Music. He’s the emerging chamber pop project of a musician who began his career as the founder of one of the most influential progressive/post-rock bands from Eastern Europe.

Neacal has boldly redefined and reshaped his sound, crafting orchestral pop to heal trauma and reinvent his sonic language. He’s been a composer for over 16 years, most of which he spent focusing on instrumental music. He now draws inspiration from the brooding orchestral pop of Woodkid, Agnes Obel and Owen Pallett.

‘Out of Control’ shifts from the wonder of its predecessor ‘The Bell’, towards a far more melancholic emotional landscape. It’s a wintery ballad with theatrical strings and heartfelt horns. The song’s instrumental composition provides an intricate yet delicate foundation for Neacal’s vocals, overflowing with emotion as he sings about pulling oneself out of a dark place. 

Neacal shared: “This song was born during one of my most severe episodes of depression, but despite that fact, it’s a hymn of hopefulness and acceptance. Here my suppressed part expresses its realisation that it is not going to dissolve into nothingness as previously expected, and that there’s a chance it will gain life and freedom along the way. In ‘Out of Control’, it finds itself still lurking in the shadows, but now it inevitably crawls towards the light, even if that might be the light of an explosion. Things will get better, even if they might get worse before that happens.”
