DYGL UNLEASH HIGH-SPIRITED NEW SINGLE ‘CRAWL’

Up-and-coming Tokyo-based rock and rollers DYGL released their new single ‘Crawl’ on September 6th, via their imprint Easy Enough. The single premiered on renowned tastemaker EARMILK, while receiving praise from Yahoo Japan and Billboard Japan. ‘Crawl’ serves as a teaser for the band’s forthcoming EP titled Cut the Collar which will be released later in 2024.

DYGL are a four-piece alt rock band who have been featured on NME Magazine, Japan Times, The Line of Best Fit and Headstuff. They’ve toured internationally and have performed in China, the USA, UK and Europe. They’ve also graced stages at festivals like Le Magnifique (France), Treefort Music Fest, SXSW (USA) and Concrete & Grass (China).

Having already released four studio albums since their inception in 2012, it’s crystal clear that DYGL is carving out a space of their own in the industry and showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Influenced by the likes of Beach Fossils, Sonic Youth and The Feelies, their forthcoming album which was mastered by Joe LaPorta (J Cole and Yaeji) of Sterling Sound, is sure to be one of their best projects to date, with ‘Crawl’ setting the stage impeccably.

‘Crawl’ is a punchy jangle pop/post punk track overflowing with excitement, euphoria and movement. Nobuki Akiyama’s vocals are reminiscent of indie boy bands from the 90s and early noughties. The single is authentic and bold as the band hold nothing back throughout. It features bright melodies, an enticing bassline interwoven with the drums and delicate guitar chords.

DYGL shared: “We feel like making music that makes people dance more, which people can feel by their body more than their ears. We celebrate the sounds of instruments as well as vocals, more than ever. After the COVID situation settled, we started to get back the opportunity to experience live music in our daily lives, and it heavily inspired our creativity these days. It’s the song that includes the frustration of getting stuck in the same place, but also having some ambition to leave there to be free.”
