Death Cab For Cutie Announce New Album ‘I Built You A Tower’ Set for June 5 Release on ANTI-Records

Death Cab For Cutie are preparing to drop their eleventh studio album I Built You A Tower on June 5. The American indie rock legends closed out their 20th anniversary tours and with that have begun a new chapter by leaving longtime label Atlantic Records to sign with independent powerhouse ANTI-. The band, made up of Benjamin Gibbard, Nicholas Harmer, Jason McGerr, Dave Depper and Zac Rae, is using this moment to head back to their roots on this record, channeling the independence that has always been central to their identity in the genre.

The album took form in an intense three-week burst with producer John Congleton, matching Los Angeles studio sessions to a run of home recordings that bring an intimate feel to the material. Out now, the lead single ‘Riptides’ offers a stately, impactful and dynamic return. It holds the band’s trademark finesse in its layered songcraft and emotional delivery while adding a raw, unforced quality that makes the track feel urgent and lived-in, typical of the best indie rock moments when a group taps directly into current momentum.
