Indie is as much about community as it is about sound, and ‘Restless’ embodies both. ZOCO—the brainchild of Geneva-born Marco Zocco—launches with a “family and friends” single that doesn’t just list names; it leverages relationships. Marco writes with brothers Paolo and Matteo Zocco (that chanted “whoa” chorus is a family signature), draws on a college friendship with Jack LeVant for lyrical nuance, and surrounds himself with players who understand songs, not just sessions: Carmine Rojas on bass, Slim Jim Phantom and London Hudson on drums.
The production story is equally collaborative. Gunnar Nelson produces (and adds backing vocals) with Kerry Brown executive producing; tracking spans Los Angeles and Milan with vocal production/recording in Nashville. Stephen DeAcutis mixes for clarity—guitars generous but never fighting the vocal—while Howie Weinberg provides a master that respects dynamics. The effect is big-tent alt-rock with pop access: a baritone lead you believe, chorus you can shout, arrangement that breathes.
‘Restless’ is about rejecting routine—if only for an hour—and that framing clicks with indie’s DIY spirit. This is an independent project with major-league craft, using community to scale ambition. With LUMANISTA (Part 1) slated for early January 2026, ZOCO feels poised to expand a sound where iconic guitar figures meet cinematic ornament, and the heart stays front and center.
