Valley Onda dropped their first full-length Middle Way today, October 31, via their own Valley Onda Records, reaching a career milestone since the Sydney trio formed in 2019. Jordan Wilson handles vocals and guitar, Michiya Nagai keys, and Galen Sultmann drums, drawing on deep cuts like Wilson’s stints opening for Paul Kelly and John Mayer, or Nagai’s sets with Lamalo at The Grass is Greener festival crowds over 15,000 strong. They’ve notched 350,000 streams, tour support slots with The Money War and Brightness, and nods from triple j, CLASH Magazine, EARMILK, and NPR Music after premiering singles ‘Minacious’ and ‘Reebok Fantasy’. Features in The AU Review, Happy Mag, and Clunk Mag round out a rep for introspective indie that sticks.

The LP leans into alternative textures across 10 tracks, mixing live instrumentation with synth layers for a sound that nods to Radiohead‘s sprawl and Alt-J‘s quirks. Lead single ‘Seraph’ kicks off with hypnotic chants over a gentle beat, layering in airy atmospherics that swell into reverb-drenched electronica—think Feathered Sun‘s haze crossed with Ian Brown‘s vocal edge, ditching guitar drive for a steady build that captures the record’s push-pull of grounded rock and digital drift.

We knew we wanted to harmonise organic instruments with technology and the electric world; a feat as grand as Robert M. Pirsig’s classic novel ‘Zen & The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance’. ‘Fishin’’ screams out like one big om from the universe, whilst tracks like ‘Seraph’ moves with cyclical rhythm and warm synths. There’s certainly an intensity to the album, but one we hope we match with joyous celebration.“
