Since UK rock band Mellor released the 2022 album Problematic Passions, little time has passed. With the year coming to a close, the Reading-based rockers have returned in a blaze of glory, gracing listeners with a live performance video before putting a cap on the year.

Filmed in the St Laurence Church, the video sees Mellor showcasing their already-released single ‘Meet Me By The Ocean’, taken from the previously mentioned album. In search of the right sound, they chose this venue for a specific reason. “We really wanted a live setting where we could capture the atmospheric sound of the track,” said the band. 

Mellor seems to have preferred to keep things simple. Make no mistake, their video is anything but sparse. Quite the opposite, in fact. The band has created a visual experience that is essential, meaning that they kept what served their goal and discarded the rest. The video reminds us that there is no substitute for music for music’s sake. It’s all in the name of good ol’ rock n’ roll, baby.
