Vancouver-born singer, songwriter, and producer Serena Sun returns with ‘Tell Me… Please’, released 30 October via Slice of the Sun Records and Head Bitch Music, as anticipation builds for her debut album Slice of the Sun, due 15 January 2027. With streams surpassing 3.4 million across Canada, the UK, and Europe, Serena Sun’s ascent is marked by her selection as a Spotify Fresh Finds Forward Artist for 2026, sold-out headline shows in Vancouver and London, and an eight-city European tour supporting LEITH. She has graced festival stages at Rifflandia and Khatsahlano, opened for RINI, Luna Li, Jo Hill, and Michael Seyer, and shared bills with Lorde, Lauv, and Charli XCX. Recognition includes a place on the Glastonbury 2025 Emerging Talent Competition shortlist, as well as coverage from BBC Introducing London, EARMILK, and CBC, with a recent sync on Teen Mom: Young & Pregnant.
‘Tell Me… Please’ opens with understated acoustic guitar, gradually layered with processed electric leads that lend a sense of spaciousness. Subtle acoustic percussion underpins Serena Sun’s introspective lyrics, which navigate themes of youth, coming of age, and uncertainty. The accompanying lyric video, marked by stylized animation and visual motifs of rabbits and hand-drawn lettering, extends the song’s narrative. Throughout, crisp pop hooks remain at the forefront, while the production’s restraint ensures the songwriting’s emotional clarity. The track situates Serena Sun alongside contemporaries such as Phoebe Bridgers, Soccer Mommy, and Adrianne Lenker.
Beginning piano at age five, Serena Sun’s early musical foundation evolved into songwriting and production by her teens. Her three-year tenure in London from 2023 to 2026 informs the thematic core of Slice of the Sun, exploring growth, homesickness, self-doubt, and renewal. Influences from Samia, Dora Jar, Del Water Gap, and Slow Pulp surface in her airy vocal delivery, narrative-driven lyrics, and a production palette that moves between acoustic textures, dreamy indie pop, and raw guitar work. Serena Sun is set to support Cristina Hart, who previously opened for Louis Tomlinson, at Birmingham’s Sunflower Lounge on 10 November 2026.
Serena Sun shared: “I wrote ‘Tell Me… Please’ as a plea to God, begging for a sign for what to do next. It’s about releasing control after feeling the pressure of my fate being in my hands and looking outside myself for help.”
