Indie-Rock band The Valmonts scintillate on infectious single ‘Cry & Get A Little Drunk’.

Hailing from Galway and now based in Dublin, indie-rock ensemble The Valmonts unveiled their latest single, Cry & Get A Little Drunk’, on September 15, 2023, via Watts Hill Records. The release serves as a precursor to their forthcoming EP, Living In A Paranoid Trance. The band has already garnered significant attention, receiving praise from renowned publications such as Clash Magazine, Hot Press, RTE Entertainment, and Music Crowns. The Dublin rockers have also graced the stage at the Wild Roots Festival in Sligo, sharing the bill with notable acts like Rudimental and Kaiser Chiefs. Additionally, they have headlined Bloom Festival in Phoenix Park and played sold-out performances at Whelans Upstairs in Dublin. Their music has resonated on an international scale too, as evidenced by their appearance on the RTE 2XM ‘Passport Approved Show,’ which reached an audience spanning over 50 international stations.

Crafted under the guidance of Stuart Gray, a producer renowned for his collaborations with artists like Glen Power of The Script and Hozier, ‘Cry & Get A Little Drunk’ is an undeniably infectious composition. A delectable guitar riff and a steady bassline provide a solid rhythmic foundation as the vocals shine with raw emotion. While the verses carry an air of introspection and tranquility, the chorus unleashes a tidal wave of emotion and vitality, propelled by the commanding electric guitar chords. The lyrics delve into universally relatable themes, centering on the aftermath of lost love, the refusal to surrender, and the act of trying to salvage those memories over some drinks.’Cry & Get A Little Drunk’ is one of those songs that embeds itself in your mind, proving impossible to shake no matter how hard you try.

Speaking about the track, the band had this to say: “This song came together in the most natural way possible. The four of us one day at rehearsal jamming. Darragh had some lyrics he had previously been working on and by the end of the day, we had a full new song. Recording it was a whole other story. There are more guitar tracks on this song than we can count”
