Sam Macdonald shared, “The song was written with Motown in mind, and chords and rhythm kind of came from The Band’s classic cover of Marvin Gaye’s Don’t Do It. As the song developed through us playing gigs, the vocals took on a kind of bluesy, soulful feel.”
