Listen to Burr Island’s lovely latest offering, ‘Our Home’

UK duo Burr Island have recently unveiled a new single named ‘Our Home’, on the 1st of March 2024 via Left Foot Records. The group is comprised of best friends Oskar Porter and Tom England, tboth trained actors whose industry ground to a halt during the Covid-19 lockdowns, spurning the inception of their musical project. Receiving praise from industry giants like Robert Plant and Noel Gallagher and support from esteemed radio stations support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2, and Radio X (to name but a few), the pair boast over  250,000 streams across all platforms for their first four singles. With their debut album and a tour with The Blow Monkeys on the way in 2024, the future looks promising for the Burr Island boys. Taking their inspiration from the works of Lennon/McCartney, Paul Simon, Crosby Stills & Nash, Nick Drake, The Beach Boys and Cat Stevens, the duo have been compared to other indie folk luminaries of our day, such as Fleet Foxes, Flyte and Kings of Convenience.

‘Our Home’ is a tranquil folk tune reminiscent of the sixties, with delicate guitar, soothing vocals, a delightful trombone solo by Tim Smart (The Specials) and a sweet flute passage by Jacko Peake (Paul Weller, Style Council). It’s a feel-good ode to the comfort of nature, providing a serene escape from the modern world’s harshness.

Burr Island divulged: “Writing this song was like sitting in the most tranquil of landscapes, merely observing what came into view. It’s about truly being in the natural world and reconnecting with our true home, where wisdom, inspiration, birth, rebirth and love can be seen, felt, tasted, heard, smelt in the smallest of things. We’re often told that we must ‘appreciate the small things’ and, in reality, the ‘small things’ are hugely important.”
