British chill band Kinobe released their fifth studio album, Out of The Blue, on August 9, 2024, via the SGKL imprint. This new album follows their single ‘Lucky Stars,’ which received radio support from NPR Music, KCRW’s Metropolis, KEXP, FG Chic, and SBS Chill. Recorded at their Western Australia beach house and mastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road, the album adds to Kinobe’s impressive catalog, which boasts over 50 million Spotify streams and endorsements from CLASH Mag, Mixmag, DJ Mag, and features in The Guardian and The Independent. Known for their downtempo sound influenced by artists from Nelson Riddle to sixties bands like Canned Heat, Kinobe is often compared to lounge legends such as Air, Kruder & Dorfmeister, and Groove Armada.
Out of The Blue elevates Kinobe’s signature lounge chill with a psychedelic twist. The focus track, ‘It’s Only A Dream’, begins with sweeping cinematic strings and evolves into a breezy, almost weightless groove. Featuring whimsical strings, surfy guitar, minimal synth bass, and smooth vocals delivering psychedelic musings, the track offers a surreal, Alice In Wonderland-esque journey. It encapsulates the album’s lush, buoyant sound, inviting listeners on a nostalgic voyage through the warmth of the sixties and beyond.
Kinobe shared: “I’ve always been fascinated by where ideas and inspiration come from. This album is an expression of how when you clear your mind it can open a door to somewhere else.”
