Cardiff-based rising rockers HIMALAYAS unleashed their new single ‘What If…?’ on 25 October via the Nettwerk Music Group imprint.
The fervent and energetic track was produced by Pete Hutchings (Royal Blood, Nothing But Thieves). It tackles global as well as personal issues, and reflects on whether or not we have control over our lives. The track addresses the angst and confusion many people are feeling at this time, and states that instead of becoming apathetic try to embrace the unknown.
HIMALAYAS frontman Joe Williams says, “Having recorded ‘What If…?’ with Pete Hutchings in Hereford it was a no brainer that we should get it released as soon as we could. The music we’ve released recently just felt like a step forward for us as a band and ‘What If…?’ feels like another jump ahead of where we’ve been. I love the energy that is inherent in the song. The lyrics and vocal melodies came quickly, and the drums are influenced by The Prodigy and Run The Jewels. Pete really kept that hip hop essence with the drums during the recording process. The whole song fell into place really well and it was a stand out single for us from the beginning!”
Since they burst onto the scene in 2023 with their debut album From Hell To Here, the band have gone from strength to strength with 93 million streams across platforms. They’re also gearing up for a UK tour with Kids In Glass Houses.
