Running on Credit started in 2019 when Sage Elmore, Nick Wheeler, and Rogelio Menchaca began playing shows all over Southeast Texas. The band comes from Cow Bayou, where the members juggle blue-collar jobs and writing songs after work. Their daily routine of hard work, late nights, and the ups and downs of regular life shapes their music, giving it a real sense of honesty. Now, the band has released ‘Searching For The Sound,’ the title track from their debut album, Searching for the Sound.

The song was recorded at Four Eyes Studios in Beaumont, Texas, with Sage Elmore handling vocals and lead guitar, Nick Wheeler on rhythm guitar, Rogelio Menchaca on bass, Chase Curtis on steel guitar, Chris Cropper on drums, and Ryan Johnson taking care of engineering, mixing, and co-production. The track keeps a raw live energy from the session, making sure the emotional heart of the piece stays right up front. Elmore’s voice drives it, moving easily between intimate delivery and stronger moments that pull you straight into the story. The arrangement stays open and measured, with steel guitar lines and gradual builds handling the feeling without filling every space.

Running on Credit shares a style with artists like Turnpike Troubadours, Flatland Cavalry, and Tyler Childers. They are part of a movement in Americana music that keeps traditional country storytelling alive and moving forward. ‘Searching For The Sound‘ doesn’t try to reinvent the genre; instead, it shows why songs based on real life still resonate. This release finds the band at their best, turning their Southeast Texas roots into something direct and memorable.
