Spanish singer-songwriter Francisco, now based in the UK, continues to grow as a songwriter with ‘Passing Fix,’ a track from his second album, Open Letters. The album blends alternative rock and folk, pairing personal lyrics with indie-style production. Francisco explores themes such as longing, emotional dependence, and the slow breakdown of idealized relationships. His diary-like lyrics and simple arrangements help express the complex feelings that come with being close to someone yet feeling alone.

‘Passing Fix’ is one of the most intense tracks on the album. The song moves between longing and resentment, as it follows someone trying to understand heartbreak but still feeling lost in it. Fast-paced and full of emotion, it captures the cycle of romantic obsession and the pain that comes from depending too much on another person. Francisco started with the chorus, which reflects on turning 28 and still being single, reaching for a drink, or coming to terms with single life while questioning his own innocence. He wrote this song alongside ‘21/7,’ making ‘Passing Fix’ the raw aftermath that focuses on self-destruction and self-pity from the perspective of obsession leading to isolation. The lyrics use a stream-of-consciousness style, giving the song a quick, messy, and intentionally overflowing feel.

Francisco had this to say: “For me, ‘Passing Fix’ is the song that feels like you’re throwing the entire house out the window. I wrote the song when I was in a space where I felt disorganised and out of place and had just been hurt and wanted to rationalise that hurt by making myself feel like I was at fault and just throwing myself to extremes. I do believe it might be the most painfully self-aware and self-sabotaging song I’ve ever written, but at the same time one of the songs I have had the most fun writing and performing.”
