Producer Mazare, originally from Northeast Italy, releases his new single ‘Unholy‘ featuring rising German metalcore band IMPVLSE today via Universal Music Italy. Over recent years, he has drawn consistent support from artists such as SLANDER, Illenium, Seven Lions, Said The Sky, Dabin, Koven and Don Diablo. His releases on Monstercat and Insomniac Records has led to more than 35 million streams on Spotify since his debut. Growing up surrounded by his father’s collection of Pink Floyd, U2 and Genesis records, Mazare entered electronic music after hearing David Guetta’s ‘When Love Takes Over‘ in 2009. He moves fluidly between heavy metal-electronic hybrids and melodic pop-rock material, with influences including The Prodigy, Noisia and Bring Me The Horizon helping shape his approach and growing international following.
‘Unholy‘ pairs uptempo drum and bass percussion with metalcore’s heavy distorted guitars and aggressive edge. The lead vocals from IMPVLSE stand out for their range, moving from crisp and clean delivery in the verses to powerful, intense sections that match the track’s energy shifts. Mazare builds the production around these contrasts, creating a hybrid that bridges the two styles effectively on a bed of drum and bass while maintaining a high level of drive throughout.
Mazare shared: “As with all the tracks in this EP, the goal with ‘Unholy‘ was to blend my two favorite genres, metal and drum and bass. This one is specifically inspired by Bring Me The Horizon and their ability to shift seamlessly from heavy riff sections and screams to super catchy, big chorus sections. I tried to recreate that structure and feel while writing the song, and IMPVLSE absolutely nailed the performance on both the clean sections and the heavy ones.”
