Today, 26 June 2026, Plain Mister Smith releases his new single ‘Dream Gigantic’ via Amelia and Symphonic Records. The track precedes his sophomore album Bric-a-Brac attack, scheduled for later this summer. The Canadian artist first gained recognition as guitarist in the darkwave band Moev and continues to perform as a cellist with the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra. Under the Plain Mister Smith project, his output has received coverage and airplay from a variety of respected sources such as NPR Music, Wonderland Magazine, CLASH Magazine, NOTION, Under The Radar, Earmilk, METAL, Noctis Mag and Atwood Mag.
‘Dream Gigantic’ draws directly from Plain Mister Smith’s long-held interest in Paris. It was shaped by a visit to the city’s quieter, sun-drenched streets in the period after the Olympics. Through its music, the single explores romantic possibility and longing. An upbeat acoustic drum section provides the core rhythm, which interlocks with lush keyboard parts and a groovy bass line to build the track’s momentum. The collaborative vocals come from Findlay Brown, whose Americana-folk approach pairs with the soulful jazz-infused R&B of JUNO Award-winner Krystle Dos Santos. This creates a dual-vocal setup full of narrative depth. Overall, the single aligns with the tastes of those who enjoy The Beatles, Leisure and Tame Impala.
Plain Mister Smith had this to say: With ‘Dream Gigantic’ I tried to convey that sense of balmy exuberance that happens when it’s the height of summer, and whether you are in a bubbly Paris cafe or a park in Tokyo, the New York Subway or anywhere really, you’re having the time of your life with someone you love.
