Not to be confused with the Queen hit of the same name, Old Fashioned Lover Boy is a singer/songwriter in his own right and has just released the third single off his upcoming album via A Modest Proposal Records. The album comes to us three years after his first release Our Life Will Be Made Up Of Simple Things in 2016 and his latest single ‘Goodbye’ will no doubt gain as much success as his previous work.

 

Born Alessandro Panzeri, Old Fashioned Lover Boy made it his mission to promote indie-rock in his hometown of Naples before evidently moving to Milan where his approach to music took quite a turn and made the shift to a more chilled singer/songwriter style. His guitar-based music took a shift to the softer sound of the piano with the addition of soul and light R&B elements. 

 

 

But that’s not to say that the guitar is completely been evicted by Panzeri. It features as gentle picking in ‘Goodbye’ behind jazzy keys and percussion all to back up the man’s soulful voice as he confronts the relatable emotions that are birthed from having to leave a dream behind. When speaking on this, Panzeri explained, “It’s a song about Naples; the city where I was born and raised and left as an adult. It tells of when I come back to visit it and I feel as if nothing changes even if time passes. It is a melancholy song that speaks of leaving the past behind and living the present.”
