USA-based singer-songwriter Davis Caruso is set to release his new single ‘Reggae In An Icestorm’ on the 22nd of September via MICHIGROWN. This will add to his growing discography, which includes an album and a handful of singles. He performs primarily as a busker on the streets of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Michigan. Songwriting is a spiritual practice for Caruso, who sees music as our best evidence of a greater power: ‘…its finite structure gives way to infinite expression’. This philosophy shines through in his music, effortlessly unbound by genre yet vividly expressive and personal. The track has already premiered and received support from notable webzine EARMILK.

‘Reggae In An Icestorm’ is a tender ode to the power of hope and escapism. Beginning with gentle guitar and ukulele chords, Caruso’s warm yet breezy voice tells a story that transports the listener to a summery paradise far away from his rain-soaked hometown in Michigan. Caruso croons, “So I’ll play the bass/ imagining the summer breeze” as a warm melodic bassline begins to punctuate the music. Ornamental jazzy horns, reverb and delay-soaked guitar and a reggae beat warm the song up into a soulful folk-reggae number – beautifully vivifying the lyrical content. It is serene and wistful; a glimmer of warmth in cold times.
