Alternative artist Jak Lizard returns with his expansive new album Vulnerable Forms, arriving on 10 July 2026. Blending indie rock, lo-fi pop, folk, soul and Americana, the record sees the artist embrace vulnerability as a creative force, delivering his most intimate and ambitious work to date.
Known for his refusal to be limited by genre, Jak Lizard has built a reputation around fearless experimentation and deeply personal songwriting. His music moves between raw acoustic intimacy and richly layered production, creating a sound that feels both cinematic and emotionally direct. Previously described by EARMILK as “unafraid of alchemic genre-bending” and praised by Wonderland Magazine as a “kaleidoscopic crooner,” Jak’s work continues to blur the boundaries between alternative, folk, pop and rock.
Following the release of his 2019 debut EP Shine to Rise, produced alongside Grammy Award-winning producer Ivan Jackson, Jak developed an international following, particularly in Japan, where his single ‘Cauliflower’ became the highest-charting English-language track on the Osaka Hot 100, remaining in the Top 10 for twelve consecutive weeks through P-VINE Records.
Since then, the artist has collaborated with acts including Carrtoons, Brasstracks and Lawrence, while performing at respected venues such as Elsewhere, The Troubadour, Blue Note, The Capitol Theatre and Theatre of the Living Arts. He has also shared stages with artists including Tears for Fears, Junglepussy and of Montreal, while receiving support from outlets such as NPR Music, Genius and Lyrical Lemonade.
In Vulnerable Forms, Jak draws on folk and country influences to center the album on themes of identity, heartbreak, and queer experiences. The record is led by ‘Good Kid Charlie’, a breakup anthem that builds from a sparse acoustic opening into an emotionally charged indie-rock chorus. Jak’s songwriting range is further highlighted by ‘County Fair’, which channels ’90s alternative rock energy, and ‘Crazy Bitch’, which features experimental pop-inspired grooves and warped guitar tones. Throughout the album, he seamlessly shifts between fragile, stripped-back moments and explosive sonic releases.
