Releasing their debut album Velvet Youth in 2019, instrumental band Yndian Mynah has returned with an optimistic instrumental piece, single ‘ROAK’ (Random Acts Of Kindness). The song was created with the feeling of anxiety spiraling out of control, and a cathartic escape with its energetic & atmospheric fusion of guitar riffs in full swing.

The band elaborates on the meaning of the new single ‘ROAK’ below.

Sum up your year so far in two words.

Pleasantly productive.

Tell us more about how your latest/upcoming release was conceptualised?

After attending Mad Cool festival in Madrid last year, we were inspired by the heavier acts who incorporated electronic/dance elements into their live performances. Although it’s something that we’ve always spoken about, we committed to the idea and just kept working towards a structure that everyone was happy with.

The meaning of ‘RAOK (Random Acts of Kindness)’ is written about the feeling of being in a constant spiral; about not being able to shake a bad feeling. But, at its heart, it is about the impact that someone showing any form of kindness towards you has – and the immediate sense of belonging that even a random act of this nature instils.

Describe a typical day in your studio space.

We’re normally in the studio two days a week, starting at 7 am – 9 am. Lots of coffee!

What are the most important pieces of equipment for you?

Pretty much everything, but a huge part of our sound is the orange amps that we use, and Matt our one guitarist just got a Duesenburg which is a vital addition to our arsenal.

Describe what an ideal day would be for you?

Being on tour, recording at different studios, listening to live music, and playing loud sets late at night.

Do you have a favourite memory of your career so far that you will take with you forever?

Performing at 3 am at Endless Daze festival – that was wild.

Who is your musical guilty pleasure?

James – Taylor Swift / Jonny – Lit / Kenan – Avril Lavigne / Matt – Boston

What can we expect from you in the near future?

We released our second music video in the build-up to our new album release this year. We have been hard at work in the studio visualizing new energy for our music. We want to come out with some fire behind us and ready to share and enjoy music with everyone who’s ready for it.
